Welcome back, Big Tree Creek! Many of the park’s creeks are seasonal, drying up by the end of summer. With this recent rain and snow, they’re gushing again! This water flows through the North Grove and into the meadow, where it slows down (did you notice how much quieter the water got in the video?), getting filtered by the plants and soil, until it leaves and travels to White Pines Lake. The meadow can retain this water into the dryer seasons, giving moisture to the surrounding areas. | Calaver

If you’re coming to the park today, come in your rain gear- the precipitation may let up around noon but the North Grove Trail is slightly flooded in sections.
